Hai Yan Dendy holds a B.S. in International Studies and Business from Emory & Henry University and an M.A.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Virginia Tech. She joined the University of Virginia in 2018, beginning her career at the Darden School of Business. In her current role as Senior Assistant Director for AdviseVA, Hai Yan leads training and professional development for a statewide team of 70 Pathways Advisers, directly supervises 11 Advisers in Virginia Department of Education Region 5, and coordinates partnership initiatives with select statewide scholarship programs.
Her passion for higher education administration and postsecondary planning is deeply rooted in her own experience as a first-generation college student. She values learning and creating opportunities to support and grow the next generation of students and professionals. Outside of work, Hai Yan enjoys spending time with family, trying new recipes, playing disc golf, and picking up new skills.
